While we will miss his frank and incisive analysis backed by several decades of keen observation of national and international affairs, this blog will continue to grow for a long time. Mr. Singh has left behind a trove of written text in the form of his diaries which he wrote over last seven decades. We will strive to digitize most of his work which is in longhand over several months. While we say goodbye Mr. Harcharan Singh, his presence would continue in the form of this blog. It is shocking to note that Industrial output in India has fallen during 2011, particularly lowest in October 2011 since 2009. In October 2011 it fell by 7%, i.e. worst performance. Anna Hazare and his team have again challenged the government, emphasizing that protection given to bureaucrats is going to encourage corruption in India as bureaucrats protect all the employees under them to save their own skin. Team Anna has insisted that even group C employees should come under Lokpal Bill, through Lokpal Bill panel is yet to finalize its report which naturally will include all bureaucrats (babus) as well as all employees even class IV employees under the ambit of Lokpal bill. Team Anna has also invited politicians for thorough debate. If Anna’s demands are not accepted by central government Anna will undertake a fast in near future to get attention of the central government and senior bureaucrats, so that there are no further death traps in Vidharba and other parts of country.

There are deaths because of starvation in other parts of country in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and even in Uttar Pradesh, but not to that extent as in Vidharba. It will be proper to have thorough investigation by Supreme Court. But it will be important if investigation is time bound so that its recommendations are implemented forthwith. It seems apt to suggest that Sharad Pawaar should be forced to resign by people of Vidharba and even whole of Maharashtra.

BJP and its allies are determined to carry on their agitation and protest both inside and out of Parliament. Thus they have not allowed Parliament to function for lost so many days. UPA is helpless because if there is voting UPA is likely to be defeated and thus may be ousted.

Anna, too, is determined to continue his agitation with tens of thousands of followers, till his demands are accepted in to to. UPA is unable to accept all demands of Anna Hazare because that will mean not only decline of UPA II but its end or fall of UPA government. It could lead to ­­­­­­fresh elections in which BJP and its allies with the support of Anna Hazare are likely to come in power even before 2004 elections.

Parliament has not been functioning for more than a week. It is has never happened before in India and nowhere in the world where there are functioning democracies. Coming few days are crucial, particularly the next week. If there is no agreement between opposition led by BJP and UPA in the next week. Because of crisis in Parliament, economic growth has come down to 6.9 percent which is lowest in two years while care sector is down as never before to 0.1% which is atleast considered lowest during last 5 years. Opposition questions as to why CBI should be under government and as so for CBI has been and even today functioning as a department of government, it has no value or importance.

Opposition is opposed to FDI and wants it roll back immediately while UPA is adamant that it will not roll back FDI Anna Hazare has also opposed Foreign Direct Investment which will lead to ownership of importance industries into foreign hands. Lokpal has demand that to end corruption at the lowest level all the 57 lakh class IV employees should came under Lokpal. It means that not only middle and upper class bureaucracy but even the lowest level government workers should be under the ambit of Lokpal bill. Infact opposition demands through Lokpal bill that entire bureaucracy without any exception should be under Lokpal bill. To this UPA can never agree. Thus fight between opposition and government will continue.

Accordingly fierce fighting started with Maoist by the armed police of West Bengal to eliminate Maoists in West Bengal. But Maoists are not confined to West Bengal only. They are creating havoc in neighboring Orissa as well as parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Though Mamata may succeed in curbing Maoist activities in west Bengal with all the of paramilitary force which is already operating. But Maoists in adjoining states will not be cubed; there is no question of their elimination, even in West Bengal despite fierce fighting between Maoist and paramilitary force of West Bengal.

Government of India is facing many problems. It is not in a position to keep Orissa and MP in any way to curb Maoists terrorist activity. It is well known that Maoists particularly in Orissa have large scale followers, though forced, but they are not being controlled by Orissa government or MP government or also in same pockets in Andra and Tamil Nadu.

Thus government of India of Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi which is fighting for its own survival because of constant and persistant attacks by BJP, How can it help Orissa and other states with Maoist pockets? It is impossible. Though West Bengal government of Mamata may succeed to an extent to curb or control Maoists, it is not possible or feasible by neighboring state Orissa, in particular to control Maoists. Neither government of India can help those states to curb Maoist activities and terrorism.

Mamata Banerjee dismissing the letter by Akash said “I don’t want to give any importance to the letter of Maoist. For last five months I have not taken any action against them though they would respond positively. But I have information that they have come down to hooliganism, Kidnapping of businessmen and extorting money”. Now I have to take decision that police will take action against those who will try to glorify and help Maoists”

In a threatening manner Mamata Banerjee said “we will snatch their rifles and the joint Forces operation will also start and go” Already Joint forces of operation have started operation and it is going on fiercely and will full force. Mamata Banerjee emphasised that all those supporting Maoist will be arrested as the Maoist organisation has been banned by the central government.” The government will also take action who will glorify Maoists” adding “Law will take its own cause”.

After two Trinamool supporters had been killed by Maoist terrorists in Balrampur area of Purulia District with central government full support Mamata Banerjee added. “Today (Monday) they have killed two Trinamool congress supporters. What do they think they can do whatever they like and we will sit and watch? We will not tolerate this” Since then forces fighting the Maoist going on, every day with greater intensity”. Mamata condemned the Maoist terrorist of using women who are helpless against them and are forced to follow their command and kill even innocent citizens and villagers who have nothing to do with either the government of West Bengal or Maoist terrorists.

Mamata Banerjee accused CPI-M whose goons and goondas financed and armed by hem are helping the Maoists terrorist who have no regards for innocent villages and whose aim is to create lawlessness and terrorism all over West Bengal, including its capital Kolkata. With Mamata Banerjee’s determination and fully armed with latest weapons, West Bengal armed forced are not likely to stop fierce action against Maoist terrorists till their elimination from West Bengal and Kolkata in particular, to set example for other states like adjoining Orissa.

After Nehru’s passing away both India and China felt to renew normal relations as great neighbours. Accordingly under the regime of Narasimha Rao as PM there was no strife between India China, infact India and China became friends for decades thereafter despite difference.

Thus Pakistan which had been closest ally of USA for its operation against Taliban becomes unfriendly to America because of repeated intervention in Pakistan. Intervention by USA has had two consequence rise of Taliban as never before who control nuclear weapons of Pakistan and on the other hand development of closer relations with China. As a result a number of times Pakistan’s delegations including its PM visited China and to reciprocate and strengthen ties with Pakistan similar repeated visits by Chinese delegations. A number of times three was Exchange of visit by Prime Ministers of Pakistan and China.

Strengthening of relations between Pakistan and China can therefore pose a threat to India though not immediately. But as Pakistan has recognized part of Aksaichin area as Chinese territory, there is possibility of threat to India though not just now.
